Katnook Estate is located on the Riddoch Highway, just north of Penola, in the heart of Coonawarra. Katnook is an indigenous word meaning ‘Fat Land’ referring to
Coonawarra’s red, fertile soil known as ‘terra rossa’.
Katnook was the site of Coonawarra’s second vintage made by John Riddoch in 1896 – this vintage was made in ‘The Woolshed’ (part of our modern day winery)
which has been recently renovated to its former glory.
The Katnook Estate Cellar Door is situated in another historical building on the property where our wines are available for both tasting and sale. With nearly 200
hectares of grapes produced at Katnook, our range of wines is extensive and features sparkling, white and red wines.
Our wines have won two Jimmy Watson Trophies, many international trophies and 3 wines are featured in the prestigious Langtons Classification of Australian
Wines V – the Katnook Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon and Prodigy Shiraz.
Cellar Door is open 7 days a week at the following times:

Saturday & Sunday 12am – 5pm
Closed Good Friday & Christmas Day
